Join the Community Wellness Project at Finnriver Farm & Cidery, Tuesday, October 17th, 5:30 pm for the 7th annual "Lettuce Grow Together!" Harvest Dinner, a fundraiser to support nutritious, local food in Jefferson County schools.
September/October Beans For Bags Spotlight: Heartberries Playschool
Heartberries is an all outdoors program for children ages 2-5 based at Peace Hill and Shy Acre Farm in Port Townsend, Washington. We seek to provide affordable care that is nature immersive, multi-cultural, cultivates the imagination, and encourages children's natural inclinations towards love and kindness.
July/August Beans For Bags Spotlight: Community Build – Housing Builds Community
Community Build built three temporary supervised villages in Jefferson County starting with Peter's Place in Port Hadlock in 2020. This was followed by Pat's Place in Port Townsend, and we have built 20 tiny shelters for OlyCAP at Caswell-Brown off Mill Road. These facilities have housed over 75 residents over the last 3 years. We are so proud of this accomplishment!

Blacks and whites had fought together in brotherhood all over the globe during World War II to defend democracy. However, a grateful government that welcomed home “the Greatest Generation” but fought that war with a segregated army had no desire to let returning Black soldiers live together with white ones.

At its heart, the Food Bank Growers is simply about volunteers sharing abundance. But that does not happen in a vacuum. Originally incorporated in 2013 as Foodbank Farm and Gardens, today it’s grown to include growers, gatherers, preservers, cooks, and food bank workers.
